Kirby Corporation conducts operations in two business segments:
Marine Transportation and Distribution and Services.
Through the Marine Transportation segment, Kirby operates as the premier tank barge operator in the United States, transporting bulk liquid products throughout the Mississippi River System, on the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, along all three U.S. Coasts, and in Alaska and Hawaii. Kirby’s service includes the transporting of petrochemicals, black oil, refined petroleum products and agricultural chemical products by tank barge. Kirby also owns and operates five offshore barge and tugboat units transporting dry-bulk commodities in United States coastwise trade.
In the Distribution and Services segment, Kirby is a leading provider of after-market service and parts for engines, transmissions, reduction gears, and related equipment used in oilfield services, marine, power generation, on-highway, and other industrial applications. Kirby is a manufacturer and remanufacturer of oilfield service equipment, including pressure pumping units, for land-based oilfield service customers. Kirby also sells and rents power generators and rail car movers, and rents generators, forklifts, and compressors for use in a variety of industrial markets.
Kirby is a “One-Stop Shop” for customers, providing a critical link in customers’ supply chains, transporting and transferring bulk liquid products that keep plants and refineries operating efficiently.
